Ask The Expert: Q & A with Stript Organizing Founders Jolene Swatsworth and Renee Martini
We recently sat down with Stript Organizing founders Jolene and Renee to talk about organizing your vanity to make getting ready in the morning simplified and quick! We’re excited to feature a home organizing company local to Charlotte who has traveled all over the world providing organization to homes and businesses.

Swan Beauty: What does beauty mean to you?
Jolene & Renee: Beauty to our business means enriching peoples lives by creating an organized and peaceful space.

SB: Organizing tips to make getting ready in the morning quick and easy?
J+R: Categorizing your skincare and makeup by style. For example, categorize eyes, lips, and skin separately so you aren’t unnecessarily rummaging through your products. Having a pretty organizer on your vanity or counter that can feel like part of your decor. This allows for your skincare and makeup to be displayed for a quick grab and apply.

SB: How often should you clean out and purge your bathroom?
J+R: We recommend every six months. Many makeup and skincare products lack a number expiration date. But there is an image on products many are unaware of and it’s a little bottle with the lid tipped and a number. That number is the expiration from the date of opening. We suggest marking the date that you open it on the product so you know the monthly expiration date. Also while you are purging and everything is out, this is a fantastic time to actually clean and wipe down your products. Give them a nice shine and make them feel like new! This also goes for your cabinets, drawers and storage dividers that contain all your products.

SB: Beauty products you can’t live without?
Jolene: Dry Shampoo!
Renee: Lip Balm!
SB: What do you recommend keeping on your vanity vs vanity drawers?
J+R: While makeup makes sense in drawers for most, it is not just a convenient choice for skincare to be on the vanity but an important one. Keeping your skincare on your vanity helps you at the end of a long day to make sure to stick to your regimen because it’s an arm length away. But more importantly, it’s incredibly important for your skincare bottles to remain upright at all times to maintain the integrity of the formulation.

SB: Is there a way to get creative when organizing your vanity?
J+R: YES! This can be fun and you can definitely think outside the box. One way we love to add some spice to makeup brushes is by repurposing old jars, for example using an old NEST candle jar or a vase to hold them. Also adding some stones or sand to the jar is a sexy touch. Also displaying your perfume on a tray is simple and sophisticated.
